Baby wrap

Someone found me on Ravelry and asked if I would make them a baby wrap.  Of course I said yes!  It took a very long time for the whole yarn order to come through WEBS.  In fact, I said YES to this project before I was even pregnant with my own little baby boy!  Back in July, I had two weaving orders that I made promises to do before I was pregnant, and I waited MONTHS for two different cones of yarn to come!!  Finally, I moved on and started the pinwheels, and the next two days, both orders of yarn showed up.  Go figure!  I should have started another project long ago and the yarn would have been here long ago!

Anyway, the yarns the person chose are very pretty!  This is Webs 10/2 perle cotton.

This is the picture they sent of what they want to design to look like.  I will have to be using double weave because my loom isn't wide enough, but that shouldn't stop me from being able to play with color!!

Will I be making a baby wrap for myself?  Probably not... it's just not my sort of thing.  Plus, the heat in Arizona would be too much in the summer to even enjoy it!

Presents!

My sister's birthday is coming up this week and I sent her 4 of these hounds tooth placemats:

I actually made this pattern up for my book this summer, but I made the placemats with her in mind!  I have kept them in a safe place since July, but sent them this week!  I'm actually glad that everything was done months ago because of my weaving haitus when I first got pregnant.

I hope she likes them!  Happy b-day, sis!

Speaking of presents, I have received a few great baby presents from my online friends and also some family!  This week, these wonderful baby bibs came from Martha at Thistle Rose Weaving in Illinois!  Aren't they just lovely?? 

I can't wait to use them with my baby boy!!

Even the backs are awesome to look at!!

I've also received some very soft and wonderful hats!  The top one is from Brian's grandma and the bottom one is from my friend Terry!

And my friend in Massachusettes sent me some super soft baby wash clothes and a super soft and fluffy yellow towel or burp rag!  These all have really awesome textures!!

I can't wait to use all of these handmade goodies with my new little son!

Sewing

I was able to get 7 pinwheel towels from my 6 yard warp!  That is how many I was hoping for, but wasn't sure if I could actually pull it off or not. 

They turned out really cute!

I've sold one of them, but I plan on keeping the rest for Christmas presents.  

I know they're not real Christmasy, but this means you can use it all year long!

Fresh off the loom!

This warp is all woven and pulled fresh from the loom this morning!

It definitely has room to shrink!

I love pinwheels, but I'm glad these are done.  I have so much I want to do before Christmas, it's driving me a little bit crazy!

For the record, we didn't put the cat in the crib.

More pinwheels!

This would make an awesome blanket but too bad my 8-shaft loom isn't wide enough, nor could it do an 8-shaft pattern with double weave.  If I want a blanket, I would have to make 2 panels and sew them together, which would be cool but a lot of work. 

This is weaving up rather quickly, plus I just had a nice long weekend to catch up some!  My list of "weaving to-do's" is a mile long, so I'm glad to almost be done with this so I can move onto the next big thing.

This design is very predictable and sometimes very boring... which isn't something I do very often!  I told Brian the other day that the only reason why I had so many looms for so long is because I often secretly hoped that he would take up weaving.  It would be interesting to see what he would design.  I have a feeling it would be very predictable, like this, and that is why he likes this pattern so much!  Well, the looms are sold now, so I guess if he wants to weave he'll have to fight me for my 8-shaft.

Classic

Pinwheels are my favorite classic design!

I used 2 shades of blues.  One is a very light blue that is almost white and one is a dark royal blue.

I like how they are not Christmas related, but they are going to be my Christmas gifts!  I like gifts that aren't too seasonal and can be used all year round.

I'm not sure if these will be for family or friends.  If I can get another set done, then these could be family or friends!  If it's only one set, then just family.  Sorry friends!  My energy is so limited!

I sold a second loom!! I just finished packing it up and sending it off to Indiana with all of its accessories!  This loom was purchased by a new weaver who has only tried triangle looms so far.  She's excited and I assured her that it was a great beginner's loom!  In fact, this was my very first loom ever.  I am a little sad to see it go, but that is just my sentimental side speaking.  I've had this loom for about 5 years, and for the last 3 it has been in storage.  I outgrew it rather quickly soon after I bought my 4-shaft loom (which I also sold because I outgrew that one quickly, too!)  I am now down to 3 looms, 2 of them are inkle looms and I don't have any intentions of selling those.  They are small enough to store easily.  My other loom is my baby wolf 8-shaft floor loom, and that will be with me for many years to come... or until I get an even bigger loom!!

We have been cleaning like crazy people, so my new slogan is "Clutter-free we will be!"
