All in all, this scarf is the most classic!

 

I have loved each and every scarf so far, but I really like this classic combination.

It also seems to be the most popular.  Now EVERYONE wants the black and white!  I need to weave several of these and send them out.  I guess I broke the black and white dry spell!

My Sister's scarf

Finally I'm getting around to doing my sister's scarf!  She said she didn't care what colors, so I'm going with black and white, partly because nobody has requested one yet and I wanted to see what it looked like and secondly because it will match with all her jackets, etc.

Pumpkins and Squash

I decided to work in the garden today, since our first freeze seems right around the corner.  I didn't want to lose the few things I knew we had!  I didn't think we had much, but once I started digging around, I was very impressed, especially since our garden was quite neglected this year.  We planted several things, but only the pumpkins grew.  The butternut squash was not planted intentionally by us, I think it came through composting!  I am fine with that though, in fact, I plan to compost these seeds so I can get some more next year.  I liked how easy they were to grow!

I spent some mega time working the two beds and clearing them out.  Do you see that tiny tomato plant in the back bed?

That's one of the things we planted that didn't survive.  I just discovered this plant with 3 whole tomatoes on it!  If it gets too close to freezing at night , I will pick these and fry them up for some fried green tomatoes!  Otherwise, I hope they turn red soon.

I filled 2 dumpsters with our garden debris!  Yikes!

I also sprayed for weeds today, cleaned out the front garden bed, and tomorrow I need to mow the lawn.  When I'm out working, I think about how for years we wished for a yard and years later we finally got one... and then sometimes we wish for a bigger yard, but when it comes to actually taking care of it, I'm glad we have a smaller yard!  I can't imagine caring for anything bigger than this!  In fact, sometimes I miss apartment life where the groundskeepers care for it all!

But the veggies and apples we can grow make it all worth it!

Anyway, I remember when I was in girl scouts as a kid, and a guest speaker came to talk to us and she was born on 10-11-12, but 1912 instead.  I thought that was so cool, and have remembered it all these years later!  (Like 22 years later it's still with me!!)

Now, back to the scarves I'm weaving!

 I like how this doesn't look too Halloween-ish.  I feel like I have met the goal with this one!  

I also had to make this about a foot longer because this is for my friend's boyfriend who is somewhere past 6 foot 6 inches tall, and since my dad is somewhere around that height also, I know how funny a short scarf can look.  So just a little extra length to compensate for that extra tallness and it shall be perfect!!

 

Turned out pretty fantastic, if you ask me.

And that's coming from a non-sports person!

Go Bengals!... what?!

Let me first begin by saying, I hate sports.  I have never liked professional sports teams, never rooted for any professional sports teams, and when I'm asked about who my favorite team is, I ask who their favorite team is and then agree with them that it's a good team.

I have only recently (since August) understood how volleyball was scored, only because they needed a scorekeeper at our school and I drew the short straw.  I figured, how hard could it be?  Come to find out, it's not hard and it's actually very interesting to figure out all the little idiosyncrasies of the score-keeping.  In fact, I kind of enjoy it.  BUT... it doesn't mean I like sports.

I was asked by a lady I carpool with to weave her boyfriend a scarf in the Bengal's colors.  I had no idea who they were or what they played, but she said their colors are orange and black.  Well, that's cool for the month of October, but when Halloween is over in just a few weeks and you're the dork still wearing the orange and black scarf, those of us who aren't into sports might consider you an actual dork.  So... after researching the team and finding out they look basically like tigers, I came up with this scheme to cut down on the Halloween-ish-ness of it all, and increase the tiger-ness of it:

Bengal Tigers, eh?  I guess that must be their mascot... they are the Bengals, and all.

It's all good... I like big orange cats.

Done, and this set is ready to deliver!

This scarf was a request for someone's mom who wears muted tones.  It's black and gray, and you can't get much more muted than this without losing contrast!  I like it!  But I have the problem of liking them all and I think it's because they all came from inside my own head.

Sheep Painting

Like the new header for the blog??  My mom painted me this picture of a sheep!  It's so cute!!  She loves to paint, and she's also really good at it.  She said that if anyone here was interested in buying a sheep painting, she would be interested in selling them for $20 (plus shipping).  Just email me (cutler05@gmail.com) or leave a comment if you're interested in buying one to decorate your home or weaving room!  I have it flipped on my header because of the title, but this is how it really looks:
